There exist myriads of city guides and countless introductions into the various fields of science and technology. However, this volume is probably the first combination of both of these.

You are invited to take a walk through the city of Leipzig and, simultaneously, to become acquainted with one of the most basic phenomena in nature. In introductory examples, leading experts in the field take care that also beginners are not overstrained. Including the relevant history, they set benchmarks in preparation of Leipzig's great event, the 600^th anniversary of the foundation of its University in 2009.

The tour is offered in English and German and may thus also be welcomed by participants of all ages who might like to try this very special way of language accomplishment.
