Diffusion Fundamentals I

Basic Principles of Theory, Experiment and Application
September 22nd - 24th, 2005
Leipzig

150 years after Adolf Fick's and 100 years after Albert Einstein's fundamental papers on diffusion in "Poggendorffs Annalen der Physik und Chemie" and “Annalen der Physik”, respectively, the world-wide community of researchers in the field of diffusion is invited to Leipzig, the place of publication of these papers, to highlight the current developments in the field. Diffusion Fundamentals I is co-organized by the Universities of Leipzig and Hannover, Sächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig, Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft, Deutsche Bunsengesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie, Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker and DECHEMA.

The scientific programme includes invited plenary talks, covering those topics of diffusion theory, experiment and application, which are in the focus of current research, as well as poster presentations about all diffusion-related subjects. The talks will address a broad, interdisciplinary audience rather than only the specialists in the different fields.

Location:
Leipzig University, Faculty of Physics and Earth Sciences, Linnéstraße 5, 04103 Leipzig – in 20 min-walking distance to the centre (1 in the City Map).
It can be accessed using tram lines 2 and 16 (station "Johannisallee") or 12 and 15 (station "Ostplatz") or by the bus lines 60 (station "Johannisallee") and 70 (station "Deutsche Bücherei"). Together with the conference bag a ticket for free use will be provided. The map of all tram and bus lines can be found here (pdf, 1.7MB) and shall be as well provided in the conference bag.
By following the links you can find a description how to get to Leipzig and information on the airport, e.g. traffic access.
